2023-24 End of Year Poem

I met you for the first time in grade three

You were young and innocent and quite carefree

I met you again when you started grade five 

Suddenly you seemed oh so very shy 

In a year there seemed to have been so much change

I wondered if I would know you again 

Now I've had 10 months to know you once more 

You've come into your own and are bolder than before

You told me you were anxious to speak in public

Yet you made speeches and videos and used every trick

To garner some votes to be president of school

Did you even realize how all this made you look cool?

You planned and organized so many events

The rest of the school played all your chosen games

Each and every one of you very competently did

Set up your station and managed it indeed

You worked so hard to learn every day

My eyes would well up as I thought of your gains

You did not give up and throw up a fuss

Even though it was a challenge and you’d had enough

I wish you the best in all that you do

Your hard work and effort comes shining through

You have so much that you can offer the world

You will be awesome in all that you do!
