Critical Thinking Stories

*Created by me

Here are some stories to encourage critical thinking (some created by me and some borrowed)...

  1. A person comes to visit a friend at his house. The host is very generous and gives the guest the best food, beautiful clothes, and even his bed. The guest is initially grateful, then he begins to disrespect the host and takes the host for granted. What should the host do? *
  2. Two people dislike each other immensely. They always try to get the other person in trouble and cause each other a lot of pain. One day, Person A's mother falls ill and needs a medicine that only Person B has. Will Person A ask Person B for the medicine? Will Person B give it? *
  3. A blind man, who is hurt, stumbles into a room and calls out for help. There is a deaf man in the room but he is looking out into the garden and does not see the blind man. The blind man can hear someone in the room so he keeps calling out. What does the blind man think is going on when he doesn't get help? How can the blind man get the deaf man's attention? *
  4. A young girl has 3 little brothers and no parents to take care of them. They don't have any food to eat, so the girl goes to a church to ask for food. The church has given away all their food except for a banana. What does the girl do?
  5. A store keeper has many beautiful things in his store. He has put up a sign that says "You break it, you buy it." There are many people visiting the store each day. One day, a customer with no money in his pocket walks in and accidently breaks an expensive looking item. The store keeper has not see the incident. What should the customer do? Should he or should he not confess? *
